About the Charity

Once all of these cars are built and auctioned, what will we do with the money? We originally wanted to buy a load of Ferraris for employee daily drivers. But instead, the proceeds collected from the Editor's Charity Challenge car auctions-held sometime in 2005-will be donated to the non-profit organization, Charity Cars. Charity Cars, Inc. is the first and only national charity that provides refurbished donated vehicles to struggling families.
Established in 1996, Charity Cars is the first of its kind in the nation, providing a vehicle that has been refurbished and redone to ensure safety and reliability, a license plate, the down payment for insurance, an emergency roadside assistance membership, a service warranty and case management services to families wiling to work. Is there anything they don't do? This amazing organization is made up of dedicated and caring people who in effect, change the lives of deserving families in our communities.

"Thank you all for donating the van. To my family and me it has been a great blessing. I hope many others will receive such a blessing. All of you have been angels for me! Thank You."

"With this car I'll be able to do more things and accomplish a lot. Life will never be the same. It will be better! God bless the staff for making others happier."

"Because of my car that you gave me, I was able to visit my daughter and granddaughter in Missouri. ... Now, when I go to the store or to the doctor, I don't have to worry about who will take me. And, best, tomorrow I start a part time job.[Charity Cars] gave me much more than a car. I am no longer sitting and waiting. I'm doing! I'm baaaccckkk."
